My Sunday Show: Hickenlooper Covers Up Hate Crime. PDF Print E-mail

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a candidate for Governor of Colorado.

I have a show on Blogtalkradio.com every Sunday. Yesterday’s show was the failure of Party Politics and Mayor Hickenlooper covers up a massive hate crime with over 30 victims.

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/chatmag/2010/07/25/the-interactive-internet

We have come to a time when Party Politics has failed. Both Parties, and individuals, have both good and bad ideas, and I believe it is time for a Governor that is not allied with any political party. To serve Colorado, a person must give their allegiance to the citizens first, last and always.

John Hickenlooper Fails to Inform Public During a Series of Hate Crimes.

Last year the Denver Police Department, and Mayor John Hickenlooper, covered up and failed to warn the public that a deliberate series of muggings was occurring in the LoDo area. In all, over 30 victims were attacked before the perpetrators were apprehended, and at no time was the public informed. The perpetrators admitted to targeting victims based on race, yet they were not charged with either a hate crime or violation of RICO statutes. According to the Federal Hate Crime statute, anyone targeting a person or persons in part or in whole based on race shall be charged with a Hate Crime.

I grew up in an integrated society within the US Army, at a time when the United States was in the middle of racial tensions. I have zero tolerance for racism, bigotry or discrimination of any kind. I also have zero tolerance for anyone who believes that the law can be applied “cafeteria style”. No one is safe if John Hickenlooper is elected Governor, a person with a proven record of failing to apply hate crimes laws and failing to inform the public of a series of crimes. Which group would be next?

John Hickenlooper failed in protecting the public. John Hickenlooper has no right to hold any public office in Colorado, based on a flawed understanding of that which keeps all of us safe, the law.

Channel 7 in Denver posted a series of articles detailing these assaults: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/21868721/detail.html

There are times that a simple obituary fails to convey the life of a person. Anyone more than fifty years old would certainly remember Mitch Miller, and generations after owe him a debt of gratitude.

I'm going to post our usual first paragraph of Mitch's Wikipedia article. I encourage all of you to read the entire article.

Mitch, thanks for your contributions to music, and humanity.

From Wikipedia:

Mitchell William "Mitch" Miller (July 4, 1911 – July 31, 2010)[1][2] was an American musician, singer, conductor, record producer, A&R man and record company executive. One of the most influential figures in American popular music during the 1950s and early 1960s, both as the head of Artists & Repertoire at Columbia Records and as a best-selling recording artist, he is sometimes thought of as the creator of what would become karaoke with his NBC-TV series, Sing Along with Mitch. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in the early 1930s, Miller began his musical career as an accomplished player of the oboe and English horn, and recorded several highly regarded classical albums featuring his instrumental work. But he is best remembered as a conductor, choral director, television performer and recording executive.
